Job Description
90% Office Operations & Reception
  • Performs clerical tasks including coverage of the reception desk answering the main office phone welcoming visitors mail preparation and retrieval errands photocopying and other duties as requested.
  • Maintains front desk manual detailing instructions on how to complete office tasks.
  • Engages in front-line troubleshooting and expedites problem solving for the office.
  • Assists office administrators with cleanliness and professional appearance of office space.
5% Event Meeting & Project Assistance
  • Assists in the preparation of materials for meetings or events.
5% Other duties as assigned to facilitate office goals and objectives

Position Overview
The Office of Academic Affairs located in Strong Hall room 133 serves as a central point of connection and information for guests students faculty and staff. This office houses the Senior Vice Provost for Academic Affairs as well as several team members from various units within Academic Affairs including Academic Success and Undergraduate Education.

The Academic Affairs Student Office Assistant is responsible for the reception area of the suite and providing excellent customer service. The Student Office Assistant welcomes drop-in students and guests by providing campus information referrals and instructions while creating a welcoming office environment. The Student Office Assistant also provides service by answering the phone referring messages and inquiries retrieving and distributing office mail accepting packages distributing packages maintaining the MFD scanning documents and assisting with other relevant duties as assigned by the site supervisor.

Position Requirements
During the semester term of the appointment the student hourly must be enrolled in no fewer than 6 credit hours. For summer periods the student hourly must: 1) have been enrolled in no less than 6 hours in the past spring semester or be pre-enrolled in the upcoming fall semester in no less than 6 hours or be enrolled in summer session or be admitted to study in the upcoming fall semester. Student Hourlies may be undergraduate or graduate students. (Exceptions granted for GRA/GTA/GA appointments DO NOT apply to Student Hourly appointments)

Employment Conditions
(1) Student employees are not eligible for remote work arrangements unless an exception is approved by the unit leadership and HR.

(2) This is an hourly/non-exempt position. A student employee cannot hold an hourly/non-exempt position and a salaried/exempt graduate or undergraduate position (GRA/GTA/GA/RUA/RGA) concurrently.
