We seek an exceptional individual to join our team as the Chemistry and Biochemistry Administrative Support Coordinator I. The ideal candidate in this role should have a positive attitude and an active energetic mind characterized by highly ethical practices and a commitment to inclusivity openness flexibility integrity and kindness. Under general direction the Chemistry and BiochemistryAdministrative Support Coordinator I provide general office support and customer service to students faculty staff and community members. The Administrative Support Coordinator I is the front-line receptionist to the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry and is responsible for maintaining a thorough knowledge of department and university practices and policies. Expected to establish and maintain productive working relationships with other departments across campus as well as with faculty staff and off-campus vendors. Composes posters advertisements newsletters and announcements for the department updates social media and websites. Plans initiates executes and coordinates projects activities and events with accountability for results. Handles inventory and purchases office supplies as needed. Facilitates travel requests and reimbursements for faculty students and staff traveling on university business. Maintains files processes documents and records gathers data and interacts with and solves problems for faculty staff and students. Use customer service and problem-solving skills to respond to customers via email telephone and in person. Requires knowledge of college and campus policies and procedures. Other duties as assigned. |
Essential Qualifications | High School diploma or the equivalent and four years of progressively responsible experience in general office clerical or secretarial work or the equivalent. Thorough detailed knowledge of applicable university infrastructure policies and procedures. Thorough knowledge of English grammar punctuation and spelling. Thorough knowledge of office systems with the ability to use a range of technology systems and software packages. Ability to independently handle multiple work unit priorities and projects. Ability to apply a variety of policies and procedures where specific guidelines may not exist. Working knowledge of budget policies and procedures. Ability to perform standard business math including calculating ratios and percentages tracking financial data and making simple projections. Ability to draft and compose correspondence and standard reports. Ability to handle effectively a broad range of interpersonal contacts including those at a higher level and those sensitive in nature. A background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily and is required for employment. CSU will make a conditional offer of employment which may be rescinded if the background check reveals disqualifying information and/or it is discovered that the candidate knowingly withheld or falsified information. Failure to complete the background check satisfactorily may affect the continued employment of a current CSU employee who was conditionally offered the position. |
Preferred Qualifications | Bachelors degree from an accredited four-year college or university. Experience working in an academic department. Skill in using both PC and Mac computers. Experience coordinating departmental events large meetings and knowledgeable about academic pathways and student registration. |
