Job Summary

Assistant Director Student Conduct and Conflict Resolution

Classification Minimum Requirements:

Job Description:

Adjudicate individual student cases via administrative hearings and administrative reviews or refer to other conflict resolution processes as appropriate.

Collaborate with university and other partners such as Title IX Office of Victim Services University Police Local/State Law Enforcement Faculty and Staff to ensure the effective execution of departmental processes and procedures leading to successful outcomes.

Assist the Assistant Dean and Director with coordinating education and training of students and faculty/staff members involved with the Student Conduct Committee.

Coordinate develop and present outreach programs to the University campus and surrounding community regarding conflict resolution academic integrity the student conduct code and conduct process and other various services that Student Conduct and Conflict Resolution provides. Assist with the further development of conflict resolution initiatives.

Assist in assessment of student conduct process including running reports in database to track caseloads/sanctions. Provide statistical reports and summaries for various departments and agencies regarding types of conduct cases and outcomes.

Contributes to the Dean of Students Office (DSO) Student Life Division and University of Florida through active participation on committees department initiatives and division-wide initiatives (example opportunities: emergency dean on call event support team conduct committee student welcome events etc.)

Oversee records maintenance to ensure compliance with institutional policies relevant laws and mandated reporting.

Other duties as assigned including cross-training in other areas within the DSO.

SUPERVISION EXERCISED

May be responsible for the supervision of Student Conduct and Conflict Resolution Graduate Assistant practicum students interns student assistants and/or case coordinator(s).

NORMAL WORK SCHEDULE

8 AM to 5 PM 40 hours per week. This position also requires occasional evening and some weekend time commitment

Expected Salary:

$50000-$55000

Required Qualifications:

Masters degree in appropriate area of specialization and two years of appropriate experience or a bachelors degree in appropriate areas of specialization and four years of experience.

Preferred:
  • Masters degree in student affairs higher education or related field and four years of appropriate experience.
  • Graduate and/or professional experience in higher education student affairs with one to three years of professional experience in higher education student conduct preferred.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and/or experience with collegiate conduct systems including academic integrity behavioral conduct organizational conduct Title IX or other student conduct process.
  • Evidence of establishing effective working relationships with students faculty staff and external constituents.
  • Familiarity with relevant state and federal laws/regulations that impact student conduct policies and processes.
  • Demonstrated ability to understand interpret and apply rules regulations policies and procedures.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with computers and software applications (e.g. Microsoft office Maxient Zoom MS Teams etc.)
  • Demonstrated ability to function effectively in a fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle multiple projects or tasks simultaneously.
  • Knowledge or experience with mediation restorative justice or other conflict resolution model.
  • Strong communication (oral and written) and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with others in an effective way.
