Students applying to this position must be in receipt of OSAPor out-of-province assistance during the current or prior academic yearormust have a demonstrated financial need determined using Financial Aid and Student Awards standardized needs and assessment budget calculation tool.

For students to be eligible for CSEP positions they must be registered in a full-time program be a domestic fee-paying student and must be able to demonstrate a financial need by successfullyapplying for OSAP or out-of-province financial aid funding.

2. Must be registered in a full-time program at Algonquin College

3. Must be a domestic student at Algonquin College

  • This position is funded through the College Student Employment Program (CSEP). Applicants must be eligible for CSEP.

  • You must be currently enrolled in a full-time program. The following students arenot eligible: Second Career Apprenticeship Programs International students Algonquin College employees paying a reduced tuition Collaborative programs with the University of Ottawa or Carleton University and all programs that are not Ministry-approved;

  • You must be a Canadian citizen a Permanent Resident or a Protected Person/Convention Refugee within the meaning of subsection 95(2) of the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act (Canada) prior to the application deadline date;

Student Printer Fleet Technician

The part-time Student Printer Fleet Technician works under the direction of the Manager Print Services to maintain maximum uptime of the public facing printers and multi-function devices accessed by students at the Algonquin College Ottawa campus.

In the Student Printer Fleet Technician role the incumbent must maintain a professional appearance and demeanor be able to communicate clearly problem-solve effectively work independently and within a team and be able to work up to 24 hours per week. The Student Printer Fleet Technician is a key role in the support of student printing on campus and the incumbent is expected to work pro-actively to prevent printer failures from occurring and react quickly to resolve printer issues if and when they do occur.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Monitor and maintain all student printers.

  • Maintain printer uptime by being proactive to ensure that printer paper drawers are replenished and ensure that printers do not run out of paper.

  • Maintain printer uptime by replacing printer toner cartridges as needed.

  • Replenish paper and consumables storage locations as needed.

  • Report problems with printers to the Print Optimization Officer and Manager Print Services.

  • Coordinate tasks with other Student Printer Support technicians.

  • Collect data on student printing activity.

  • Report on printer activity to Print Optimization Officer and Manager Print Services.

  • Perform basic printer maintenance functions including.
    - clearing paper jams
    - clearing printer errors and printer queues
    - replacing toner and consumables when required
    - power cycling printers when required
    - cleaning and decluttering printer work areas.
    - cleaning printer surfaces.

  • Monitor printer lab print activity.

  • Assist in posting and maintaining printer signage instructions and labeling.

  • Assist students with connecting to Algonquin College WIFI.

  • Assist students with installing print software.

  • Assist students with printing scanning and copying functions.

P21197 Student Website & Process Documentation Support

Under the direction of the Manager Course Material Services and Retail Procurement the incumbent will be assisting the Web and POS Technician and General Merchandise Buyer with the maintenance updates on our Retail Services website. This includes updating content images as well as product descriptions to improve the experience for learners with the current look and feel of the Campus Store website.

The incumbent will work with Retail Services team to develop write and edit current operational process manuals.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible to search through vendor catalogues and the internet to obtain high quality images of standard items from various vendors;

  • Contact sales representatives to obtain high quality images for items not found on their websites;

  • Works with General Merchandise Buyer and sales representatives to obtain information for accurate item descriptions and catalogue copy;

  • Assists the POS technician with photo manipulation and updating imagery to ensure new products can be updated on the Campus Store website;

  • Works with General Merchandise Buyer and sales representatives to obtain information for accurate item descriptions and catalogue copy;

  • Works with the Retail Services team to develop write and edit current operational manuals;

  • Working with Retail Services team and Web and POS Technician ensuring processes and procedures are properly identified using a standard template.

Required Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or equivalent;

  • One (1) year data entry experience.

Anticipated Schedule:

  • Anticipated Schedule hours per week: Up to 24

  • Flexible hours based on students availability.

  • Length of contract: 4 months with possibility of extension for the following term.
