The Opportunity
The Alberta Energy Regulator (AER) is recruiting a Summer Student to join ourtalented Regulatory Applicationsteam. As a Student Engineering you will gaintechnical exposure to aspects of reservoir engineering and factors that contribute tosuccessful carbon capture utilization and storage(CCUS).
This role supports projects analyzing reservoir and well design strategies in saline aquifers and depleted oil and gas reservoirs. Responsibilities include maintaining the teams SharePoint site developing dashboards analyzing reservoir behavior performing material balance and pressure transient analyses and assisting in modeling. You will work with tools such as Power BI S&P Global WellTest Kappa Saphir Rubis CMG GEM Schlumberger Eclipse and Intersect to interpret data simulate reservoir behavior and support management decisions.
Working with the Principal Engineer you will gain hands-on oil and gas experience while contributing to the safe and efficient development of Albertas energy resources with mentorship skill development and the opportunity to make an impact.
What your day-to-day will look like:
Maintain the SharePoint site for CCUS applications andassistin extracting data from legacy projects in saline aquifers and depleted oil and gas reservoirs.
Analyze high-frequency high-resolution shut-in data from well tests and interpret pressure responses using tools like S&P GlobalWellTestand Kappa Saphir.
Generate diagnostic plots and support analytical and numerical reservoir modeling to understand reservoir geometry and behavior.
Learn andutilizesoftware such as Power BI Rubis CMG GEM Schlumberger Eclipse and Intersect for building models running simulations and analyzing results.
Collaborate with team members to understand project requirements and contribute to ongoing reservoir engineering projects.
