WA Primary Health Alliance (WAPHA) is a not-for-profit organisation that operates 3 of the 31 Primary Health Networks (PHNs) spread across Australia. We are guided by our Strategic Plan2023 - 2026.

Established in 2015 the PHN Program aims to strengthen and sustain primary health care through partnerships and strategies that demonstrate a one health system philosophy improve peoples access to services and hence their health outcomes.

The Senior Data Analyst will contribute to projects of a complex analytical nature related to the planning of WAPHA commissioned and co-commissioned part of the role you will also support Team Leader with technical methodologies to meet the strategic and operational planning and improvement of WAPHAs key strategic objectives.

This role will be offered as a max term position up to 30 June 2026 on a full-time basis and offers the flexibility to work from home and office.

Key tasks and responsibilities:

  • Develops and improves the integrity of WAPHAs data collection and measurementinfrastructure and methodologies.
  • Develops manages and reports on projects requiring complex investigation specialised analysis and interpretation of data and information from a range of sources (including Commonwealth data sources health service activity performance morbidity and population data systems).
  • Develops new methodologies for commissioned reports and advice that inform and make recommendations related to high-level strategic decision-making policy and planning activities associated with WAPHAs strategic objectives.
  • Collaborates with other WAPHA people agencies and institutions to meet key objectives.
  • Develops and maintains expert understanding of methodological and contextual matters related to the achievement of key responsibilities.
  • Monitors evaluates and provides regular feedback to the Executive Team on the usefulness of information and analysis systems and makes recommendations for improvements.

  • Contributes to the development of education and training programs relevant to data analysis and use of information systems to facilitate analysis and reporting.
  • Represents WAPHA on various service redesign forums and ensures effective working relationships with key internal and external stakeholders.

About you

To be considered for this role candidates must meet the following selection criteria:

Essential experience and education

  • Tertiary degree in epidemiology statistical or mathematical science public health research or equivalent that has a strong quantitative base.
  • Extensive experience in data preparation manipulation analysis and interpretation.
  • Excellent analytic and pragmatic problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient application of statistical analysis tools and techniques including data analysis software packages (for instance SQL R Python or similar).
  • Demonstrated ability to contribute to the interpretation of population activity performance and outcome data.
  • Good interpersonal communication and report writing skills.
  • Good time and project management skills including the ability to plan and prioritise to meet deadlines.
  • Flexibility and demonstrated ability to work effectively in both a multi-disciplinary team environment and independently.

Demonstrated experience in the use of project management quality or process improvement methodologies.

Preferred knowledge and skills

  • Advanced knowledge of data analysis methodologies and tools.
  • Experience with quality assurance processes and project management methodologies.
  • Familiarity with the Western Australian health system and primary care.
