Position Summary
The IT System Architecture Specialist is responsible for designing implementing and maintaining enterprise-level IT solutions that align with organizational goals and industry best practices. This role ensures robust scalable and secure architectures that support business operations and digital transformation initiatives across CAEs Defense & Security Canada Region.
Key Responsibilities
Architecture Design & Governance
Develop and maintain enterprise architecture standards frameworks and guidelines.
Design end-to-end IT solutions that integrate applications data and infrastructure components.
Ensure compliance with security regulatory and operational requirements.
Solution Delivery
Lead technical design sessions and provide architectural guidance throughout a projects lifecycle.
Collaborate with business analysts developers and project managers to deliver high-quality solutions.
Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend adoption strategies.
Integration & Performance
Define integration patterns for systems and applications across hybrid environments (on-premises and cloud).
Optimize system performance scalability and reliability.
Implement monitoring and disaster recovery strategies.
Security & Compliance
Incorporate Government of Canada cybersecurity principles into architecture designs.
Ensure adherence to data protection and privacy standards.
Stakeholder Engagement
Act as a trusted advisor to business units and IT leadership.
Communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
Qualifications & Skills
Education
Bachelors degree in Computer Science Information Technology or related field (Masters preferred).
Experience
Minimum 7 years in IT architecture solution design or related roles.
Proven experience with enterprise architecture frameworks (TOGAF Zachman).
Hands-on expertise in cloud platforms (Azure AWS) virtualization and networking.
Experience with Flight Operations and Flight Training.
Technical Skills
Strong knowledge of integration technologies (APIs ESB microservices).
Proficiency in security architecture and compliance standards.
Familiarity with DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines.
Soft Skills
Excellent communication and leadership abilities.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Certifications (Preferred)
TOGAF AWS/Azure Architect CISSP ITIL
