Hermitage Architects is a small architectural design practice in the east end of Toronto (Leslieville) which for the past 14 years has enjoyed providing our client Urbacon Construction/ Development and Urbacon Data Solutions with engaged consulting services ranging from programming & project management design & construction documents to construction administration. We specialize in data centre & mission critical facilities as well of office and industrial buildings.

About the role
Reporting to the Director of Architecture the Senior Associate will play a key leadership role in the design and delivery of complex architectural projects. As part of a small highly collaborative office you will be deeply involved in every stage of the project lifecyclefrom conceptual design and technical development to construction documentation and contract administration.
This role requires a seasoned professional with strong design sensibility technical proficiency and project management skills. You will assist in leading and mentoring junior team members coordinate with multi-disciplinary consultants and ensure that design intent and technical excellence are maintained throughout each project phase.
Responsibilities
- Because we are a small office the successful candidate will be involved in all aspects of the office including design production documents specs and contract administration.
- Preparing AutoCAD and Revit drawings while managing layers units scaling and x refs.
- Senior level of design/technical detailing as required for project execution.
- Select and Resolve materials and methods of general construction.
- Managing project documentation including emails & shop drawings.
- Develop and manage each projects Revit model
- Assist as required with construction administration activities including shop drawing review specifications and site instructions
Candidate Requirements
- University or College degree in Architecture / Technology.
- Highly organized with excellent English communication skills.
- Knowledge of materials and methods of general construction. Strong understanding of building science and detailing.
- Minimum 15 yrs. knowledge and experience in AutoCAD and Revit preferably in an Architects office in Canada.
- High level of skill with Adobe Creative Suite and Microsoft Office applications.
- Experienced with building practices and the Ontario Building Code.
- Site reviews and contract administration experience as asset.
- Interested in working on commercial offices & retail industrial data centres mission critical facilities and interiors.
- Minimum 10 - 12 years of relevant post-graduate experience in the production of architecture and interior design drawings from Schematic Design through to Construction Administration.
- Well-organized problem solver.
- Experienced managing multi-disciplined engineering consultants including mechanical electrical fire suppression and structural.
- OAA Designation is considered an asset.

- Creative & focused individual who can share ideas.
- Ability to work in a group.
