Springfield Public Schools is seeking a dedicated and compassionate individual to join our Special Education team as a Transition Assistant Instructional Resource. This position is responsible for case management and provision of specific services preparing youth for postsecondary training job exploration counseling work-based learning experience workplace readiness training and self-advocacy. This position coordinates with the Transition Team Special Education Teachers Counselors Administrators the Youth Services Coordinator and Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor to identify and refer eligible students to VR or other transitional agenciesto ensure compliance with the Pre-ETS contract. This position is also responsible for recording and maintaining performance benchmarks for the YTP database as required by the grant including follow-up data.
Student Transition Support:
Identify eligible students for Pre-Employment Transition Services (Pre-ETS).
Assist in developing and implementing individualized transition plans.
Provide vocational counseling and one-on-one support to students.
Coordinate with Vocational Rehabilitation Services and other external agencies.
Instructional and Behavioral Support:
Develop and supervise life skills lessons both on and off-campus.
Support students with academic assignments in reading math and writing.
Model and assist students in developing social and safety skills in community settings.
Assist students in managing behaviors and resolving conflicts.
Program Supervision:
Supervise students in various work-based learning experiences including on-campus enterprises like the coffee cart and SPS Farm.
Manage the CTP Coffee Cart at Springfield City Hall.
Assist with lunch supervision and other duties as directed.
Transportation and Off-Campus Activities:
Transport students to activities work sites and events using district vehicles.
Lead and supervise exercise groups and swimming activities off-campus.
External Collaboration:
Communicate and coordinate services with outside agencies and businesses.
Serve as a resource for students in finding information on work experience placements job shadowing drivers permits/licenses social security cards etc.
Safety and Compliance:
Report safety sanitary and fire hazards immediately to the supervisor or appropriate authorities.
Minimum Requirements:
Associates degree or higher; OR
Completion of two years post-secondary study (72 credit hours or 48 semester units); OR
High school diploma or GED with equivalent combination of education and experience.
Demonstrated ability to assist in instructing reading writing and mathematics.
35 years of increasingly responsible related work experience.
Post-Hire Requirements:
Ability to obtain a valid First Aid/CPR card.
Ability to obtain and maintain a valid Oregon Drivers License.
Criminal Justice Fingerprint/Background Clearance.
Food Handler Card.
Type 20 Vehicle Driver Certification.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in an educational setting particularly with special needs students.
Familiarity with vocational rehabilitation services and community resources.
