The Waisman Center is dedicated to the advancement of knowledge about human development developmental disabilities and neurodegenerative diseases throughout the lifespan. One of 15 centers of its kind in the United States the Waisman Center encompasses laboratories for biomedical and behavioral research several scientific research cores and a clinical biomanufacturing facility for the production of pharmaceuticals for early stage human clinical addition to its research efforts the Center provides an array of services to people with developmental disabilities offers numerous educational and outreach programs to young children and their families and trains scientists and clinicians who will serve our nation in the future.
The mission of the Waisman Centers University Center for Excellence in Developmental Disabilities (UCEDD) is to support the full inclusion and self-determination of people with developmental disabilities and their families through: development of personnel qualified to provide services in the health education and social service systems; provision of services technical assistance and the dissemination of information; and the contribution of new knowledge about the causes and prevention of developmental disabilities the impact of disabilities on individuals and families and the efficacy of assessment intervention and support methods.
The UCEDD Associate Director is responsible for assisting the UCEDD Director in carrying out the mission core functions and federal requirements of the UCEDD with particular focus on determining evaluating and disseminating evidence as part of the knowledge translation process including scholarly publications; preparing grant applications and annual reports; identifying problems and methodologies to advance research and systems change; participating in the hiring supervising and mentoring of UCEDD staff and faculty; tracking benchmarks related to the UCEDD work plans and funding requirements; and monitoring budgets personnel allocations building/technology needs and emerging issues.
Contributes to the core functions of the UCEDD including activities of training/teaching conducting research disseminating evidence and best practices and demonstrating model services
Serve as the back-up UCEDD Director and provide leadership to staff as needed

Four or more years of administrative research program experience within a large research and training center.
Demonstrated experience collaborating with community organizations and state agencies to improve the outcomes of persons with disabilities.
Demonstrated leadership teaming and interpersonal communication skills.
Demonstrated experience in leading managing and supervising professional staff and teams.
Experience managing budgets and contracts and a proven ability to develop collaborations and engage with multiple stakeholders.
Ability to handle multiple and diverse projects events and shifting priorities and deadlines.
Demonstrated experience writing and securing competitive grants and managing extramural research and training funds.
Content expertise in the area of intellectual and developmental disabilities based specific training and/or work experience.
A PhD or other doctoral degree in a field relevant to Developmental Disabilities is required.
