About the Role

The (MHACS) CNS nurse educator role will work across both urban and rural Emergency Departments within Southern acting in the roles of educator consultant researcher leader/change agent in the pursuit of excellence and improved health outcomes for people experiencing mental distress.

Tasks include but are not limited to:

  • Building the capability and confidence of staff working in the Emergency Department (ED) and other locations people present in crises
  • Support the professional development of clinical non-clinical and administration staff who interact with individuals (and their whanau or support people) presenting with mental health needs or in distress
  • Assist in building the capability of the front-line workforce to respond confidently and professionally to mental health crises events
  • Act as a wellbeing resource for the ED teams to support front-line staff
  • Utilise excellent interpersonal skills and model professionalism in the context of people experiencing mental distress and its impact

About you

Our ideal candidate will:

  • Have at least 5 years clinical experience in Mental Health and Addictions
  • Be a Registered Nurse with a valid APC
  • PDRP Expert
  • Have a Postgraduate diploma in specialty nursing practice
  • Ability to work well in a team and foster good interpersonal relationships across services
