We have the opportunity for a Data Analytics Specialist to join our Service Performance team in Digital Services. This year were launching a key project focused on enhancing reporting and driving service improvements across IT and the student experience. This is an exciting opportunity to lead a targeted piece of work that will identify opportunities for improvement and deliver real impactful change.
As a Data Analytics Specialist you will be responsible for delivering analytics and reporting using a range of data sources. This role is important in helping our senior leaders understand the consumption and performance of IT Services across the University. The insights you uncover will be crucial in supporting sound decision-making on aspects such as continual IT service improvements and future technology investments which impact our staff students and researchers.
This position will help create a Data Analytics mindset across Digital Services as a way of ensuring facts can drive cohesive decision-making and actions while supporting initiatives directly in Te Rautaki Matihiko The University of Auckland Digital Strategy.
We are looking for candidates who have strong interpersonal skills as you will represent Digital Services in the Universitys Analyst Network while also working closely with the Planning & Information Office on data capability development across the University.

Our ideal candidate will bring an energetic and can-do attitude along with the following skills and experiences:
- Bachelors qualification (or equivalent) in statistics and/or information systems.
- Experience working in a similar analytics role with a love for all things data.
- Demonstrated experience working with and integrating enterprise reporting tools such as Power BI and MicroStrategy Snowflake and SQL.
- Good understanding of business intelligence technologies processes and practices.
- Understanding of dimensional data modelling and solid experience with data visualisation tools and technologies.
- Ability to analyse organise model identify trends in data and present information to a range of audiences.
- Ability to manage and influence senior stakeholders with objective data insights.
You will also be willing to learn new technologies and programming languages on the job as and when the need arises will allow you to succeed in this role.

Connect is the delivery arm of Digital Services within the University and is responsible for the delivery and support of applications infrastructure and end-user devices to support the Universitys core functions of Teaching Learning and Research within Faculties Large-Scale Research Institutes and the supporting Service Divisions.
Service Performance plays an important role in leading and governing the quality and performance of IT service delivery to support University staff and students in achieving their objectives. This team acts as a partner to IT by helping to align and embed the right practices processes tools roles and responsibilities across IT teams.
