The Slammers are the professional baseball team in Joliet part of the Frontier League a Partner League of Major League Baseball and are dedicated to providing exceptional experiences for fans in the city of Joliet and the surrounding Chicagoland area. The right individual will be an integral part of the team to promote the Slammers positive culture attitudes and experiences for fans of all ages across all departments.
Position Overview:
The Joliet Slammers are seeking enthusiastic hardworking and dependable college students to join our 2026 Stadium Operations team. As a Stadium Operations Intern you will gain hands-on experience in facility management game-day execution event operations and the behind-the-scenes work that keeps a professional ballpark running smoothly. This role plays a vital part in ensuring that Slammers Stadium remains a clean safe and enjoyable environment for fans players partners and staff.
Essential duties include but are not limited to:
- Assist with daily stadium preparation including setup and breakdown for home games special events and community activities.
- Support the oversight of stadium cleanliness maintenance needs and overall facility readiness.
- Help manage game-day operations including staffing support crowd flow and fan assistance.
- Collaborate with other departments (Promotions Ticketing F&B Marketing) to ensure smooth execution of events.
- Monitor and restock operational and maintenance supplies.
- Respond to fan questions and assist with resolving issues in a friendly customer-focused manner.
- Conduct pre- and post-game walkthroughs to evaluate cleaning repairs and operational needs.
- Assist with general ballpark upkeep and light maintenance tasks.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Manager of Stadium Operations.
The ideal candidate:
- Is currently attending a college or university.
- Is pursuing a degree in sports management facility management recreation or a related field (preferred).
- Is able to work all 51 (or a majority of) Slammers home games and regular office hours.
- Has strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.
- Possesses excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Is able to work independently as well as part of a team.
- Is highly motivated with a strong work ethic and a positive attitude.
- Can lift 2550 pounds and perform physical tasks as needed.
- Is willing to work long hours including nights weekends and holidays.
- Has reliable transportation to downtown Joliet.
- Previous experience in operations events or facility management is a plus!
