The Claims Governance & Risk Specialist plays a critical role in ensuring robust risk and governance practices within TALs Claims function. This position is accountable for delivering Line 1 Risk & Governance activities that support Claims teams across all channels and portfolios. The role is designed to strengthen compliance enhance risk management and drive continuous improvement within the Claims environment.
In this role you will:
- Deliver timely Governance & Risk Management analysis and advice to the Claims business unit to enable the business to be commercially successful and fully compliant with legal and regulatory requirements.
- Provide structured feedback and recommendations to manage the risks identified on claims and claims practices in line with claims risk and compliance frameworks and community expectations.
- Engage with relevant stakeholders across TAL (including the wider Claims team) to identify opportunities for learning improvement and training. Then initiate activities that support driving these changes.
- In consultation with Customer Experience Internal and External Disputes Resolutions teams identify trends to ensure continuous improvements in complaints resolution and support necessary complaints guidance/training coaching to the business re the complaints process where required
- Undertake reviews associated with correspondence from the LCCC including drafting of responses as required.
- Monitor delivery of audit recommendations across claims.
- Support Line 1 risk activities in collaboration with the broader Claims Governance and Risk team.
Qualifications :
- 5 years experience in a relevant Risk Management and/or Compliance environment and/or Technical Claims environment or similar.
- Degree qualified in a business-related line e.g. legal/accounting/commerce/risk would be advantageous.
- Sound understanding of the legal and regulatory framework surrounding life insurance and of managing risk in such an environment.
- A sound understanding of life insurance industry claims handling and complaints resolution experience is highly desirable.
- Ability to influence and achieve outcomes in consultation with senior management & key stakeholders across the organisation.
- Strong written and verbal communication with a proven ability to articulate technical issues; and ability to develop strong working relationships across all levels.
