The University of Miami Bascom Palmer Eye Institute has an exciting full time opportunity for a Clinical Program Coordinator Virtual Eye Care in Miami Florida.
The Clinical Program Coordinator (H) assists in the development organization production and evaluation of various departmental program offerings within the assigned unit. Moreover this employee provides general oversight to daily program activities in support of the Universitys mission. The Clinical Program Coordinator (H) may also monitor the financial performance of programs to meet departmental goals and assists with short-and long-range budgetary planning.

Evaluates program effectiveness analyzes results and recommends appropriate action.
Coordinates clinical program activities with other departments and staff to ensure optimal efficiency.
Serves as a main point of contact to facilitate communication between stakeholders.
Develops collaborative partnerships across teams and/or patients to streamline processes and enhance departmental productivity.
Trains develops and empowers staff to effectively perform their jobs.
Develops program/departmental communications and may involve promotional materials for distribution.
Prepares reports which may include financial statements and records for management or outside agencies.
Ensures confidentiality of patient and hospital business information.
Coordinates the maintenance of established supply levels in designated areas as needed.
Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.

Bachelors degree in relevant field required

DEPARTMENT ADDENDUM
Department Specific Functions
Primarily responsible for providing virtual or/and on-site support to assigned clinical specialties and providers in effort to ensure the successful coordination of care for patients throughout their journey.
Facilitates virtual care offerings through schedule management patient education/preparedness and coordination of the virtual visits.
Ensures patients have access to the MyUHealthChart patient portal and assists them through the e-check-in process connecting with the virtual visit and completing medical history/pre-exam documentation in the medical record.
Proactively assesses scheduling accuracy patient volumes and clinic flow and improves the distribution of patient assignments to promote efficiency.
Manages internal/external referrals and follow up instructions to arrange appointments with medical specialists to assist in patient care.
Provides coordination and support to clinical practices providers clinical support staff and patients.
Addresses and documents patient inquiries and communications in a timely manner through answering patient phone calls monitoring EMR messages and tasks and escalating/assigning requests as needed to ensure proper resolution.
Assists physicians with clinical activities to resolve any delays and guides patients as needed through each step of their appointment to improve the overall patient experience.
Reviews provider schedules in advance to ensure patients are scheduled appropriately and all pre-appointment requirements have been completed such as referrals insurance authorizations for medication and procedures test orders etc.
Assists in scheduling patients as needed and follows up with patients who cancel reschedule or do not show for their appointments to ensure appropriate continuum of care.
Determines based on predefined protocols whether patients need to be seen urgently and expedites the scheduling of appointments with a provider or fellow.
Answers patient inquiries regarding medications/prescription refills reports side effects to provider and shows good judgment and understanding of the particular problems associated with high-risk medications.
Researches and confirms outside physician contact information and requests updates to the Health System provider directory.
Assists clinical research coordinators as needed to facilitate care for study patients.
Provides ancillary clerical or medical related support to providers which may include patient care clinical activities student services reporting/statistics generates reports for analysis on trends and possible areas of improvement and other business needs.
Prepares EMR correspondence for fax transmission or mailing when this cannot be done through EMR and scans documents to EMR Media tab with proper labels daily.
Assists clinical support staff in updating Care Teams in the EMR.
Promotes patient utilization and understanding of the EMR patient portal for electronic communications test results pre-appointment documentation etc.
Assists with virtual care expansion initiatives through data analysis market research workflow redesign and technology enhancements.
Coordinates with internal and external marketing groups to enhance awareness and adoption of virtual care offerings through websites newsletters social media journals and other platforms.
Prepares and attends marketing events and health fairs to promote services and eye care awareness in the community.
Department Specific Qualifications
Education:
Bachelors degree in relevant field
Certification and Licensing:
Ophthalmic Technician Medical Assistant Nursing or another formal medical certification/licensure preferred
Experience:
Minimum 2 years of relevant experience in a clinical setting
