NYC Department of Finance (DOF) is responsible for administering the tax revenue laws of the city fairly efficiently and transparently to instill public confidence and encourage compliance while providing exceptional customer service.
DOFs Treasury and Payment Services Division is responsible for overseeing all City payment websites the payment processing of tax returns property recording forms parking violation programs and the collection of delinquent accounts and oversees the agencys management of the Citys cash balances and its relationships with banking institutions. Treasury and Payment Services is also responsible for collecting outstanding violations issued by City agencies and adjudicated by the Environmental Control Board.
Payments Billing and Refunds is responsible for processing payments for property taxes and property-related charges business and excise taxes and parking and camera violations. The division is responsible for communicating amounts due maintaining the quality of departmental records and providing customer service to individuals seeking information on making payments or receiving refunds. Payments Billing and Refunds performs account adjustments and respond to refund inquiries from the public.
The Business Commercial Motor Vehicle Tax (CMVT) unit is responsible for providing customer service for Medallion and Non-Medallion respondents that meet the necessary requirements.
The CMVT unit is seeking a highly motivated highly organized and detailed oriented individual to serve as a customer service representative. Reporting to the Manager of CMVT and Parking Tax Exemptions specific duties for this position include but are not limited to the following:
-Assist respondents via E-mail web message phone walk-ins.
-Manage customer accounts by adding removing plates from accounts.
-Handling / processing CMVT payments and refund requests.
-Resolve complex problem cases related to the CMVT.
-Work on CMVT tasks through BTCS system.
-Assist with coordinating the annual CMVT Bulk Filer process.
-Assist with preparation for the annual renewal process for Commercial Motor Vehicle Tax (CMVT).
-Process other Business Tax forms and requests.
-Assist with ad hoc request as required by the unit director or Assistant Commissioner
-Communicate with various large Corporations regarding their fleet of vehicle for CMVT
-Serve as one of the units alternate BTCS testers.
-Research and issue TLC Commercial Motor Vehicle Tax Clearance Letters.
-Communicate with various internal units within DOF.
-Process Bulk File Process for the commercial motor vehicle tax.
-Assist DOF Collections and Sheriff Department.
-Assist with Parking Tax Exemptions Unit daily functions.

PRINCIPAL ADMINISTRATIVE ASSOC - 10124
Qualifications :
1. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and three years of satisfactory full-time progressively responsible clerical/administrative experience one year of which must have been in an administrative capacity or supervising staff performing clerical/administrative work of more than moderate difficulty; or
2. An associate degree or 60 semester credits from an accredited college and four years of satisfactory full-time progressively responsible clerical/administrative experience including one year of the administrative supervisory experience described in 1 above; or
3. A four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent approved by a States department of education or a recognized accrediting organization and five years of satisfactory full-time progressively responsible clerical/administrative experience including one year of the administrative supervisory experience as described in 1 above;
4. Education and/or experience equivalent to 1 2 or 3 above. However all candidates must possess the one year of administrative or supervisory experience as described in 1 above. Education above the high school level may be substituted for the general clerical/administrative experience (but not for the one year of administrative or supervisory experience described in 1 above) at a rate of 30 semester credits from an accredited college for 6 months of experience up to a maximum of 3½ years.
