Industry Lead - Planning

As Industry Lead Planning you will play a critical role in supporting client engagement and project delivery by bringing transport planning expertise to conversations and helping shape solutions that meet client needs. You will be a key contributor in pursuing and winning work ensuring technical excellence and strategic input throughout the process.

Given the strong pipeline in the North Coast and Wide Bay Regions your primary focus will be on these local projects building strong local relationships and delivering high-quality outcomes. However you will also work on projects across Queensland and where appropriate support interstate projects to contribute to broader business objectives. You will work alongside KBRs National Transport Engineering Lead the QLD Market Sector Manager Transport and the broader transport market sector team to deliver projects for the Queensland Department of Transport & Main Roads (TMR) Local Government Authorities (LGAs) and other strategic clients.

Where appropriate you may take on the role of Transport Lead Project Manager or Project Director for transport projects. You will collaborate with the QLD Operations team to strengthen our Sunshine Coast office presence including supporting recruitment of locally based team members as required.

In addition you will assist the QLD Market Sector Manager Transport with project oversight and work closely with QLD Operations to ensure successful project deliveryboth client-facing and commercially. This includes providing internal leadership and guidance to project teams and helping to upskill KBR staff in project management and delivery.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide a strategic leadership role as part of the Qld Transport team
  • Project management and transport planning leadership to junior staff across the QLD business
  • Build on client relationships to maintain and grow our pipeline of opportunities with TMR and LGAs
  • Develop capture plans for key opportunities
  • Manage /update opportunity data within the SalesForce platform
  • Provide leadership and oversight ensuring expected client outcomes for Transport and where appropriate this may include taking on the role of Project Manager Project Director or Transport Lead
  • Collaborate across disciplines and geographies with other parts of the business
  • Expand the capability and capacity of the Sunshine Coast Office
  • Support the QLD Market Sector Manager - Transport to grow business across the state including working on tenders or projects that may be outside the North Coast and Wide Bay regions

Qualifications and Experience

  • 20 years experience within industry on transport projects
  • Bachelor of Environmental Planning Bachelor of Engineering or similar
  • Demonstrated experience of leading and winning project work
  • Established local relationships with TMR and other clients
  • Experience in external and internal stakeholder management
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and good presentation skills
  • Self-motivated and self-directed
  • Ability to lead a team and deliver to agreed business plan targets
  • Track record of effective leadership development and motivation of staff
  • Understanding of health safety and welfare matters ensuring adherence by the team
  • Ability to supervise and delegate effectively
