Were hiring a specialist SEN Teaching Assistant to support a high-needs ASD pupil on a 1:1 basis. This role requires someone calm consistent and confident working with pupils who present with demand avoidance / PDA-type behaviours.
Youll be the key adult for this pupil working closely with the SENCO and class teacher to deliver a low-arousal relationship-led approach that reduces anxiety and keeps the pupil engaged and safe.
Requirements
What youll be doing
1:1 support for a high-needs ASD pupil
Using low-demand flexible strategies to reduce avoidance and escalation
Supporting regulation engagement and transitions
Working with SENCO/class teacher on daily strategies and adjustments
Maintaining a calm predictable environment
Following safeguarding and school behaviour plans at all times
You must have
Proven experience with ASD high-needs pupils and/or PDA profiles
Strong behaviour management rooted in empathy not confrontation
Excellent consistency reliability and communication
Up-to-date Enhanced DBS (or willing to apply)
Right to work in the UK
