Your opportunity

The Strategic Procurement team serves as trusted business partners driving best practices in sourcing and contract management. Leveraging their expertise they provide guidance on governance business processes risk management and compliance across the organisation.

We have an exciting permanent opportunity for a seasoned category professional to join our team as Category Manager (AS7) and play a key leadership role in ensuring optimal category management practices across the ICT and Corporate Services portfolio while fostering a highly effective and engaged team dedicated to excellence. You will be responsible for implementing category strategies aligned with organisational goals driving strategic sourcing initiatives and managing relationships with key stakeholders and suppliers.

We have a large pipeline of exciting procurement initiatives leading up to the 2032 Brisbane Olympics.

In this role you will:

  • Lead coach and develop a team of sourcing specialists to achieve set targets objectives safety responsibilities and performance metrics.
  • Implement and develop category strategies and subsequently sourcing plans.
  • Lead the team in effective engagement with internal and external stakeholders to build and maintain strong working relationships.
  • Conduct comprehensive market research and analysis including commercial evaluation risk analysis negotiation and due diligence on suppliers.
  • Ensure effective contract management practices are in place across the business to achieve optimal commercial outcomes maximise the performance of suppliers and meet legislative requirements.

This is a full-time permanent position based in Brisbane CBD. The role offers a salary of $162331 plus 12.75% superannuation along with hybrid work options to support a healthy work-life balance.

What were looking for

  • Experience with leading a small team creating and achieving a desired future state and the ability to communicate direction (vison and values) with enthusiasm.
  • Demonstrated experiences in category management (ICT Desirable) and a high level of skill in commercial acumen across large scale contracts and global suppliers.
  • High-level skills in developing category plans / strategies and proven experience in best practice procurement and sourcing.
  • Ability to demonstrate high-level skills in influencing interpersonal consultation relationship building and commercial negotiations.
