The City of Abbotsfords Street Operations division is seeking a self-motivated hard-working individual to join our dynamic team as a full-time Utility Person (Roads). In this hands-on role you will contribute to the repair maintenance and construction of City roads sidewalks intersections and bicycle paths. You will also be responsible for inspecting servicing and performing repairs on road infrastructure to ensure safety and functionality.
Your ability to maintain a clean and safe work area comply with safety regulations and exercise sound independent judgment will make you a key asset to the team. Success in this role will be guided by your thorough knowledge of the methods practices materials tools and equipment used in road and drainage system infrastructure and repair.
As a Utility Person youll assist in road curb and sidewalk construction operate trucks and equipment and help direct other operators. Youll be expected to work independently follow safety protocols and maintain accurate records. If you are a team-oriented individual with a solid understanding of road construction practices the ability to respond effectively in emergency situations and a desire to make an impact in a fast-growing municipality wed love to hear from you!
In order to be considered for this position you must have:
Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent.
Two (2) years experience in road construction or maintenance.
Valid Class 3 BC Drivers Licence.
This position is unionized CUPE Local 774 and the hourly rate of pay is from $29.64 to $34.86.
