About this role

Grant Thornton Australia is looking for an Associate or Senior Associate Data Analytics to join our Financial Advisory team in Sydney.

As part of our Financial Advisory practice you will collaborate with other areas of the business gather extract and analyse data to help provide meaningful and actionable insights and recommendations for the firms clients providing solutions to complex financial and business problems.

This role offers a compelling opportunity for a data-driven professional with 13 years experience to deepen their expertise in analytics and would be ideal for someone whos already worked with data in a commercial setting and is looking to expand their impact through more complex problem-solving stakeholder engagement and scalable delivery. You will have direct interaction with senior leaders and other key stakeholders enjoying a diverse workload and being involved in the ongoing strategy and development of this growing team.

Key responsibilities

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand business requirements and translate them into data analysis tasks specifying the data to be collected and methodologies and tools used

  • Work closely with stakeholders to identify data sources gather relevant information and perform ETL processes (extraction cleaning transformation and loading)

  • Build and maintain data models dashboards and reports using tools such as Power Query Power BI Alteryx SQL or Python to automate and simulate processes adjusting and recasting models as required

  • Learn how to identify trends and patterns and provide actionable insights and recommendations based on data findings

Skills and experience

The budgeted salary range for this position is AUD $75000 to $100000 inclusive of superannuation.

  • University degree in a relevant discipline

  • At least 1 years experience in a similar role

  • Analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Adaptable and dynamic approach to work with ability to pivot between different projects and teams as needed

  • Excellent communication skills including interpreting requirements of diverse teams and adapting interpersonal style to different audiences
