About the Role

The Student Wellbeing Liaison is responsible for providing initial responses and support to students and conducting health and wellbeing assessments for students presenting in a highly distressed state. The role is responsible for the de-escalation of student distress identification of student health and wellbeing needs and prioritisation of service provision.

As a Student Wellbeing Liaison you will:

  • Provide initial response and support for students who present in high distress conduct health and wellbeing assessments de-escalate and identify service provision needs.
  • Assess the nature of student distress and identify relevant contributing factors including health and wellbeing concerns.
  • Provide staff consultations to educate the Deakin community on recognizing and responding to student distress promoting mental wellbeing and raising awareness of Student Health and Wellbeing Services.
  • Deliver effective and efficient services using a client centred evidence-based approach.
  • Seek feedback from clients (staff and students) regarding their satisfaction with the service respond to all feedback with openness and transparency and seek to identify ways to improve service provision.
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with a wide range of stakeholders within and external to the University to ensure efficient and effective referrals.

To be successful youll have:

  • Arelevant undergraduate degree withsubsequentrelevant experienceinmental health intake/triage such as social work or psychology welfare counselling mental health nursing
  • Experience in sensitively managing initial disclosures including sexual harassment and assault.
  • Experience in responding to family/domestic violence reports and mental health concerns (suicidal/homicidal/psychotic experiences)
  • Demonstrated experience in working collaboratively within multidisciplinary services to enhance health and wellbeing outcomes in the provision of timely and effective services
  • Relevant experience within the tertiary environment (desirable)
