Job Summary

Classification Title:	Veterinary Assistant (CARE)
Classification Minimum Requirements	High school diploma or equivalent.
Job Description:	The University of Florida Veterinary Hospitals is a 40000 sq foot hospital at the World Equestrian Center (WEC) a high profile 300-acre equine facility in Ocala 30 minutes south of Gainesville. UF Veterinary Hospitals at WEC provides Small Animal primary care and urgent care services and Equine sports medicine rehabilitation and diagnostic imaging services. A Veterinary Assistant at the UFVH at WEC assists with small animal and equine patient care procedures stocking administrative support and general cleaning and maintenance of the hospital and equipment. An individual in this position must possess horse handling skills and experience and enjoy learning new things. Typically schedules consist of 8 10 or 13.5 hour shifts. Will be assigned to a primary shift generally: Day shift Evening Shift or Night Shift. Reassignment to a different primary shift rotating shifts split shifts and extended shifts may be required and assigned depending on hospital needs. Assigned days may vary Sunday through Saturday weekends and holidays included. This position also requires working alternate shifts holidays weekends or on-call duty. This individual is considered essential personnel which may include reporting to work during Main Campus closures.
Expected Salary:	$15-17 /hour

Preferred Qualifications	More than two years work experience handling and restraining horses Experience in veterinary medicine
