Job Summary

We are seeking a strategic and visionary Senior UX/UI Manager to drive the user experience and interface design across the Asia segment. Reporting to the Director UX/UI Design Lead this role will be responsible for shaping and executing the regional design strategy ensuring consistency quality and innovation across all digital touchpoints.

The successful candidate will lead the UX and UI operating model for Asia leveraging our MITDC design hubs to deliver best-in-class experiences. Key responsibilities include defining and governing design standards establishing robust frameworks and controls to uphold design excellence and managing stakeholder engagement across diverse markets. This role is pivotal in embedding design thinking into our product development lifecycle and championing a user-centric culture across the region.

Position Responsibilities:

Design Strategy and Governance

  • Establish and maintain a scalable design governance framework that ensures adherence to global standards and original UI/UX requirements while leading regular design reviews to elevate output quality to world-class levels.

  • Provide clarity and guidance on the usage of the design system ensuring alignment with global standards while meeting the expectations of stakeholders through regional advocacy localization and strategic input.

  • Collaborate with global design system leadership to drive regional adoption contribute to Asia-specific component development and promote consistent scalable and accessible design practices across projects.

  • Work collaboratively with cross-functional groups and external partners to deliver clear directions specifications and documentation on Manulifes design strategy and language.

  • Be a strong advocate for delivering high-quality compelling experiences to our customers that are inclusive accessible and adhere to platform standards

  • Champion design strategy across stakeholders across organizations by evangelizing best practices in visual design systems thinking and design operations while ensuring consistency and accuracy of visual assets across brand guidelines and all customer touchpoints.

Design Operations

  • Lead the transition of regional design resources to MITDC centers by defining scalable team structures and centralized delivery models while standardizing workflows and practices to enhance efficiency transparency and collaboration across distributed teams.

  • Oversee demand forecasting and resource allocation across Asia maintaining a regional tracker and supporting centralized offshore delivery.

  • Drive recruitment and onboarding of designers (permanent contractor vendor-sourced) ensuring skill alignment with project needs and offshore/onshore balance.

  • Evaluate and implement outsourcing models including centralized vendor engagement and enforce design system compliance in deliverables.

  • Co-develop and operationalize a new design operating model in partnership with the Experience Design team including process design escalation protocols and cadence planning across markets.

  • Monitor and optimize tooling documentation and collaboration platforms to streamline design delivery and cross-functional coordination.

Required Qualifications:

  • 5 years experience with a minimum of 2 years in User Experience Design or User Interface Design Management

  • Bachelors or masters degree in related design fields

  • 2 years of experience leading design projects and managing designers and design teams

  • Strong portfolio and/or hands-on experience in web and mobile design (including Android and iOS).
