Across our 60 locations we provide programs in a variety of service areas including workforce development children youth families seniors and homeless prevention.
The Living Room is the BronxWorks central location for its adult homeless services. BronxWorks operates three 24-hour programs that include a drop-in center a 50-bed safe haven for chronically street homeless adults and our borough wide mobile street outreach program. All of the programs provide direct services to street homeless individuals in the Bronx including case management food clothing emergency shelter referrals to NYC shelters and permanent housing placement.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Supervise shift overseeing and performing crisis intervention and addressing operational problems.
- Advice supervisor of shift specific operational problems on a timely basis.
- Supervise and perform all regular client service tasks as well as reporting requirements.
- Schedule daily and weekly assignments and monitor functions and participate in rotation of task assignments.
- Administer human resources functions such as coordination and evaluation of staff training maintaining supervisory notes facilitating regular shift team meetings scheduling for shifts and reviewing time sheets.
- Perform special assignments and shift-specific responsibilities as assigned by the Security Director or Operations Director assuring provision of services and compliance.
- Interact with difficult and sometimes abusive clients in a productive and professional manner.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Three years of social services experience.
- One year experience working in residential facility working with homeless mentally ill or substance abusers.
- New York State Security License.
- Fire Safety Coordinator License.
- First Aid and Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification.
- Proficiency in modern business communications including personal computers electronic mail voicemail facsimile and copier equipment.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to use a computer for prolonged periods.
- Ability to sit crouch and walk for extended periods of time.
- Ability to lift pull push and/or move up to 60 pounds.
- Ability to bend and retrieve objects and/or documents.
- Ability to climb stairs.
- Ability to climb and stand on a 15 foot ladder.
- Ability to travel in the boroughs of New York City and its adjacent counties via public transportation.
