Job Title: Facilities Site Supervisor I Middle School Custodial

Supervisor:Custodial Supervisor

FLSA Status: Exempt

GENERAL STATEMENT OF AUTHORITY AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The Facilities Site Supervisor I II and III are responsible for the site operation of the custodial program and coordinating and evaluating all activities assigned to the specific site custodial group for the District. As a service provider the supervisor is responsible for providing effective and timely communications to all users of custodial services.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITES

The Facilities Supervisor I II and III for Custodial plans directs and evaluates employee activities for assigned school site custodial teams.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Performs some or all of the following tasks. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Assists in preparation of budget data and the annual budget for custodial services at the site level.
  • Makes recommendations in consultation with the Facilities Supervisor IV and site Principal for employment and placement of custodial personnel.
  • Evaluates the specific technical skills and effectiveness of custodians in cooperation with the site Principal and Facilities Supervisor IV.
  • Works in cooperation with Facilities Supervisor and Principal to schedule and supervise summer custodial work.
  • Works with the Facilities Supervisor IV and Principal on the evaluation of site custodians.
  • Coordinates and implements the performance of regular and frequent written inspections for cleanliness sanitation and safety of all buildings and then informs all interested parties (facilities supervisor IV custodian principal manager of facilities and grounds etc.)
  • Coordinates and implements custodial in-service trainings and orientation processes for custodians.
  • Evaluates cleaning standards and coordinates building cleaning work load schedules.
  • Coordinates the custodial training for custodians.
  • In consultation with Facilities Supervisor IV evaluates the activities and performance of custodians.
  • Analyzes and assesses the cost and effectiveness of custodial products and provides recommendations for the purchase of supplies and equipment.
  • Coordinate and implement the use of the custodial manuals.
  • Ensures that site supplies are accurately and completely represented in the Hazard Communication Manuals and provides the necessary training to custodians in the use of the manuals.
  • Assesses monitors and in consultation with the Facilities Supervisor IV and principal any changes to custodial work schedules and working hours.
  • Communicates effectively and works cooperatively with coworkers students and staff.
  • Attends work regularly.

MARGINAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Performs some or all of the following tasks. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Assesses shop inventory and order and re-stocks inventory as necessary.
  • Acts as consultant to principals on matters applicable to their trade.
  • Assists other trades to complete tasks as necessary.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education and/or Experience: High school diploma or General Education Diploma (GED); minimum two years experience in a leadership role to coordinate and supervise custodial programs for large facilities.

Interpersonal Skills: Works well with others. Focuses on solving conflict; maintains confidentiality; listens to others without interrupting; keeps emotions under control; remains open to others ideas; Contributes to building a positive team spirit.

Language Skills: Ability to communicate fluently in English both verbally and in writing. Preference may be given to applicants who are fluent in both English and Spanish. Ability to effectively present verbal information in one-on-one and small group situations to student parents and other school staff. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to write routing reports and correspondence. The ability to read and interpret blue prints and construction documents.

Mathematical Skills: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such relevant to their trade including portions percentages area circumference and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

Reasoning Ability: Ability to define problems collect data establish facts and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

Computer Skills: General knowledge of computer usage and ability to use e-mail internet software and facility operation and management software.

Other Skills and Abilities: Ability to interact appropriately with students teachers staff and others.

Certificates Licenses Registrations: Certificates as determined by the District/State including blood borne pathogen training blood spill training and valid Oregon drivers license.

The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally more than 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision distance vision color vision ability to adjust focus depth perception and peripheral vision. Demonstrate strength and dexterity to operate hand and power tools.

While performing the duties of this job the employee is occasionally exposed to wet or humid conditions outdoor weather conditions. Occasionally the employee is required to work in high precarious places. While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. While performing the duties of this job the employee is occasionally exposed to extreme cold conditions with use of refrigeration/freezer units and extreme heat conditions with use of heaters/boilers. The employee may be exposed to vibration with use of machinery. The employee may be exposed to bloodborne pathogens. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate and occasionally high.
