Position Information:
The Dietary Manager is responsible for the implementation of quality standards of dietetic service facility food service policies and procedures the dietary staff equipment systems and work area as well as for providing and maintaining the highest quality of service to the patients while securing cost-effectiveness to the organization.
Responsible to the facility administrator
Days: 5 days per week including holidays and weekends as needed
Hours: kitchen is open 6:00 am through 6:00 pm. candidate will work a 40 hour week and may be varied shifts dependent upon the need
Pay Range: dependent upon experience
What youll do:
- Plan develop organize implement evaluate and direct the facilitys dietary programs and activities.
- Follow established governmental regulations departmental policies and procedures objectives quality assurance program safety standards and customer service.
- Maintain a variety of kitchen utensils and equipment including steamer ovens grill stove microwave grinders slicers mixers blenders toasters etc.
- Ensure that all foods prepared meets existing standards for quality freshness taste appearance temperature and elder friendly dining.
- Ensure that required sanitation levels are maintained throughout the food preparation process.
- Ensure all required documentation for cleaning food alternates and menu substitutions and temperatures are recorded properly.
- Monitor residents weights and any wound treatment by participating in the weight/wound management committee and implementing suggested procedures.
- Direct and supervise all dietary functions and dietary personnel.
- Hire provide orientation train supervise educate evaluate work performance and counsel and terminates dietary personnel if necessary.
- Many other duties related to the care of residents
- Completes other duties as assigned.
What you bring to the table:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Experience in institutional or restaurant food service supervision and food preparation is preferred.
- Completion of Certified Dietary Manager Certified Food Protection Professional (CDM CFPP) credentialsapproved by the Certifying Board for Dietary Managers (CBDM)
OR
- Willingness to enroll in and complete the Certified Dietary Manager Certified Food Protection Professional (CDM CFPP) credentials approved by the Certifying Board for Dietary Managers (CBDM)within 18 months of hire may also qualify for employment.

Communication is expected with co-workers residents and other visitors to the facility. Occasionally you will be asked to work beyond normal working hours shifts other than normally assigned and/or in other positions temporarily when necessary. This may include but not limited to holidays weekends evenings filling in for staff etc. May be subject to offensive odors loud noises and unpleasant sights associated with the physical and mental conditions of the residents. May be exposed to infectious waste and/or diseases unless proper procedures are utilized. Will be required to wash hands frequently with disinfectant soaps. Subject to long periods of time standing or walking. Moderate temperature extremes at times from institutional cooking equipment and walk-in coolers. Subject to burns and cuts. Exposed to hazards of heat steam chemicals and wet floors. This list is not exhaustive and may be supplemented.
Typical Physical Demands:
Manual dexterity normal sight with or without corrective lenses and hearing adequate for all types of interpersonal communications. Eye- hand coordination frequent standing &/or walking lifting of equipment and supplies. Must be willing to understand & follow the facility safety rules including the proper use of body mechanics.
