Your New Role!

As Centre Director youll lead Murdoch Universitys Centre for Biosecurity and One Health into its next chapter of impact and innovation. This is a strategic leadership role where you will:

  • Set the vision and agenda for research and engagement across prevention preparedness response recovery and monitoring.
  • Forge powerful partnerships with government industry and community to tackle critical challenges such as emerging infectious diseases invasive species antimicrobial resistance wildlife and environmental health and biosecurity policy.
  • Drive growth and influence by securing external funding delivering high-quality research outputs and ensuring evidence translates into real-world solutions.
  • Build a thriving research community that is collaborative inclusive and connectedhosting events fostering interdisciplinary projects and creating a strong sense of belonging for Centre members.

What We Offer You!

This is a fixed-term role for 3 years part-time at 18.75 hours per week. The position offers a competitive salary at Academic Level D ($166186 $182899 pro rata) or Level E ($213553 pro rata) depending on experience and qualifications plus 17% employer superannuation.

What youll bring to the role:

  • A PhD in a relevant discipline such as biosecurity epidemiology microbiology ecology plant health veterinary or environmental health.
  • Proven research excellence demonstrated through high-quality publications international recognition and real-world impact.
  • Success in securing external research funding from competitive and commissioned sources.
  • Strategic leadership skills with the ability to deliver plans aligned to organisational priorities and measurable outcomes.
  • Strong collaboration and relationship-building skills fostering networks across industry government academia and community.
