About the opportunity

The Executive Advisor provides strategic advice portfolio-level planning coordination and operational support to the Deputy Vice-Chancellor Health (DVCH) General Manager and Health Leadership Team. Operating with significant autonomy sound judgement and deep institutional awareness the role supports the delivery and integration of key strategic priority initiatives and emerging issues across the Health portfolio.

A central function of the position is leading the coordination and management of the annual planning cycle in Health. This includes the design development sequencing prioritisation and monitoring of planning structures processes reporting mechanisms and providing advice on risks and trade-offs. The Executive Advisor also plays a key role in supporting priority Health initiatives enabling strong stakeholder engagement clarity of scope and timely delivery.

As a trusted advisor to senior leaders the position provides high-level analysis and synthesises complex information with portfolio-wide and institutional implications. Success in the role requires excellent analytical skills sector acumen and the ability to rapidly build trust with senior leaders and stakeholders. The Executive Advisor plays a critical role in enhancing performance stewarding major change and continuous improvement and enabling the priorities and strategic direction of the Health Portfolio.

What youll do:

  • Provide strategic advice to the DVCH General Manager and other senior leaders by synthesising complex information anticipating emerging issues and offering well-reasoned recommendations and briefing materials that enable the DVCH and General Manager to make informed decisions.
  • Co-ordinate the annual planning cycle across the Health portfolio working with Heads of Academic Unit and Business Managers to track progress against University and Health priorities.
  • Support operational governance by identifying and coordinating appropriate pathways for issues and escalations managing sensitive and confidential matters with discretion and enabling efficient resolution by coordinating workflows across the Health Office.
  • Enable key projects cross-portfolio initiatives and responses to emerging issues by identifying appropriate stakeholders and supporting engagement across academic units and with central Divisions.
  • Coordinate communication and engagement activities across the Health portfolio by producing high-quality written materials including briefing notes and supporting the delivery of coordinated staff forums.

What were looking for:

  • Relevant qualifications combined with extensive senior professional experience in a complex organisation ideally with a background in executive support strategic advice business or strategy analysis management or equivalent roles.
  • Demonstrated capability in portfolio-level strategic thinking planning and analysis including the ability to synthesise complex information navigate organisational systems and governance frameworks apply critical and conceptual problem-solving skills and provide well-reasoned advice to senior leaders on complex and sensitive matters.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills including the preparation of executive level briefings presentations and other executive-level communications.
  • Excellent interpersonal and stakeholder engagement skills with the ability to build strong collaborative relationships across Academic Units central Divisions and senior governance forums.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with a high degree of autonomy while contributing effectively as part of a team including end-to-end responsibility for tasks.

Salary details

Appointment to this role will be at HEO 9 and will have a total remuneration package of up to $160613 comprising base salary within the range of $130242 to $137276 plus 17% superannuation.
