As a member of the of the Gas Turbine Engineering organization of GE Gas Power part of GE Vernova specifically a member of the Combustion Design module you will be a recognized expert in advanced CFD modeling simulation and methods development in the area of combustion design. You will be responsible for major and complex assignments with long-term business implications. You will contribute to the overall strategy and manage complex issues within the Global Combustion Module team.

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Recognized combustion design and CFD modeling expert of combustion systems.
  • Play a key role in the Combustion Virtual Lab initiative to improve design by analysis capabilities and achieve higher productivity.
  • Own and execute the roadmap for integrating AI into combustion CFD modeling and simulation.
  • Collaborate with CFD CTHs in ATD to drive the introduction of integrated Combustion/HGP CFD modeling and simulation tools and processes to achieve system level optimization.
  • Develop and update CFD/modeling best practices and templates to be shared with the global Combustion community.
  • Identify and recommend where improvements in knowledge of the specific discipline are needed or where technical training is needed.
  • Provide technical leadership in peer/design reviews as well as key business initiatives as needed.
  • Provide ad-hoc technical guidance to the Engineering/Technology management team as required.
  • Provide technical consultation to cross-functional teams throughout the business to improve or resolve field manufacturing product or supplier issues.
  • Represent the business externally at conferences or in professional working bodies (ASME DOE etc.) and maintain active relationship with relevant academic institutions to promote research projects and other academic cooperation.
  • Mentor and coach combustion engineers to complete their work and step in as required to aid in NPI and/or fleet issues.
  • Remain cognizant of state-of-the-art in combustion design system integration operation and manufacturing.
  • Lead and provide key technical direction to large projects with critical business impact.
  • Effectively communicate and provide recommendations through the analysis preparation and presentation of technical data to internal and external customers using reports records and letters.
  • Prepare invention disclosures to protect technology that gives the business a competitive advantage as well as protecting the intellectual property rights of the company.
  • Support and work closely with Combustion Consulting Engineers and Chief Consulting Engineer.
  • Consult with and support the Chief Engineers Office in the execution of technical goals of the office.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor of science degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in an engineering capacity.
  • Expert in CFD and combustion modeling.
  • In-depth knowledge of combustion system design development testing field operation and gas turbine combustion fleet.

Desired Characteristics

  • Masters degree in mechanical engineering or aerospace engineering.
  • Minimum of8 years of experience in gas turbine combustion design and modeling.
  • Experience with CFD tools such as Ansys Fluent Siemens StarCCM or Cadence charLES.
  • Creative and innovative mindset.
  • Effectively interface with most levels of the organization.
  • Excellent presentation and communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills.
  • Contributing author of Design Practices and Design Templates.
  • Familiarity with a range of combustion design systems.

This role requires access to U.S. export-controlled information. If applicable final offers will be contingent on ability to obtain authorization for access to U.S. export-controlled information from the U.S. Government.

For candidates applying to a U.S. based position the pay range for this position is between $131700.00 and $219300.00. The Company pays a geographic differential of 110% 120% or 130% of salary in certain areas. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors including the candidates experience education and skill set.

Bonus eligibility: discretionary annual bonus.
