Minimum Qualifications
The minimum qualifications for a health services professional with overall responsibility for developing and directing student health services shall be a valid current California license as a registered nurse AND either of the following: 1. A Masters Degree in Nursing and a California Public Health Nurse certificate and a minimum of two (2) years experience in nursing; OR 2. A Bachelors Degree in Nursing a California Public Health Nurse certificate AND a Masters Degree in Health Education Sociology Psychology Counseling Health Care Administration Public health or Community Health and a minimum of two (2) years experience in nursing. 3. Other health services personnel shall not be subject to statewide minimum qualifications; however all personnel shall possess appropriate valid current licensure or certification to practice in California when required by law. Ancillary personnel shall work under appropriate supervision when required by their license laws. (California credentials were no longer issued after July 1 1990). OR 5. The equivalent qualifications. (Candidates who claim equivalency must provide conclusive evidence as clear and reliable on the college transcripts as required on the District Equivalency Application Form. Refer to the Equivalency Procedures below. This is not a process to waive the minimum qualifications.) AND 6. Understanding of sensitivity to and respect for the diverse academic socioeconomic cultural disability and ethnic backgrounds of community college students.
