LaGrange College seeks to fill a tenure-track teaching appointment in vocal music at the assistant or associate professor level beginning August 1 2026. A terminal degree in vocal music performance or closely related field is required although outstanding ABD candidates will be considered. Successful candidates without a terminal degree in hand must complete the terminal degree by the end of their second year.
The successful candidate will help integrate our music and the musical theatre programs in the Department of Fine and Performing Arts and will lead LC Singers our a capella singing group teach voice and music academics at the undergraduate level and serve as musical director/conductor in our musical theatre production season. The successful candidate should possess evidence of successful teaching at the university level with strong pedagogical skills and experience teaching voice in multiple styles of musical theatre and repertoire (from classic Broadway to contemporary pop rock and gospel styles) and be well-versed in musical theatre vocal technique and vocal protection. Applicants must be able to accompany themselves in lessons. All candidates should possess a minimum of three years of teaching at the college level coupled with experience in professional musical theatre.
Other responsibilities may include vigorous recruiting for the musical theatre and music majors musical theatre student audition preparation and advising and mentoring undergraduate students in their academic and professional development.
