Job Summary

Qualifications for this Career Opportunity

  • Knowledge of governmental accounting budgeting and financial reporting.

  • Ability to communicate technical information to non-technical personnel and develop/deliver presentations.

  • Knowledge of standard IT systems concepts and terminology.

  • Ability to build complex financial models databases and excel templates.

  • Meet minimum qualifications:

    • Bachelors degree in business administration or computer science with both an accounting emphasis and a technical writing emphasis or other closely related fields.

    • Five years of progressively responsible experience in financial or technical analysis.

    • Other combinations of directly related education and experience may be considered.

    • Preferred:

      • SQL and T-SQL coding (MS SQL Server)

      • MS Access Forms development

      • Advanced Excel and MS Office knowledge including VBA coding

Additional Information

This position may be eligible for partial teleworkwithin the state of conditions will be provided by the supervisor and must adhere to state policy.

This position may be eligible for a statutory 2.5% an hour base pay increase effective July 1 2026.

The Montana Department of Public Health and Human Services (DPHHS) has a career opportunity within the Business and Financial Services Division in Helena.

This position is in the Business and Financial Services Division and involves preparing complex financial and budgetary analysis involving IT systems and IT procurement. The responsibility of this position is to manage the finance mechanism to obtain track and monitor approvals and funding for complex IT projects. This position will prepare state and federal financial reporting and is a primary liaison between the state and various federal cognizant agencies to obtain and maintain federal compliance for over $150 million in federal funds.
