Job Summary:

Join the UW-Madison Libraries Interlibrary Loan Department supporting the research needs of the UW-Madison campus as well as other libraries and communities within Wisconsin and the world.

Reporting to the Head of Interlibrary Loan the Interlibrary Loan Specialist will be responsible for processing physical and digital borrowing and lending requests and supporting document delivery services.

The Interlibrary Loan Specialist also may train and assist the work of student employees.

The successful candidate will perform a variety of duties including but not limited to:

  • Processes borrowing and lending interlibrary loan requests
  • Supports document delivery services
  • Engages in professional development activities

This position is eligible for partial remote work. A remote work agreement may allow for a maximum of 20% remote per week.

This position is full-time 100%.

Key Job Responsibilities:

  • Contributes to the development of policies and procedures
  • Provides complex library services support in absence of a supervisory authority. Acts as a resource to other library staff
  • Participates in committee work within the library and the university
  • Hires trains and guides student employees and monitors student workflows
  • May assist and educate both face-to-face and remote customers in the use of technologies and tools to create seek use and manage information
  • Interprets policies and procedures to answer non-routine questions and resolve complex issues
  • Utilizes designated library systems tools standards and practices to locate retrieve and organize; or describe edit preserve and reformat a variety of library information resources
  • May create invoices process complex orders and resolve any purchasing discrepancies
  • Conducts reference searches to locate relevant materials and answer questions as needed
  • Provides complex support to the day-to-day operations of library services to provide guidance in the use of library information resources operations and policies; or to acquire prepare and preserve library information resources for use
  • Utilizes library software and systems to retrieve enter and report on data using a wide variety of applications

Compensation:

Starting salary will be based on experience and qualifications. Well-qualified applicants can anticipate earning between $38189- $45000 with final salary based on experience and qualifications.
