Job Duties
The Accountant Senior performs advanced professional work involving the analysis and interpretation of fiscal data and application of accounting principles to manage key financial functions with agency-wide implications. Responsibilities may include resource management business operations accounting system development budget data preparation cost distribution revenue control and complex financial analysis. The Accountant Senior will also have duties and responsibilities in but not limited to the following areas: General Ledger Accounting 1099 Administration Prompt Pay reporting Stop Payments Process documentation and development and some training. The position may supervise other fiscal professionals and support staff to ensure the efficient operation of financial processes and compliance with regulations
Minimum Qualifications
Knowledge of accounting financial and budgetary principles including accounts payable reconciliation and financial reporting.
Experience utilizing data tracking and reporting systems to manage and maintain detailed financial records generate reports and analyze trends or projections.
Working knowledge of budget preparation analysis and development including research and trend analysis to support fiscal decision-making.
Strong written and verbal communication skills to provide guidance to staff report findings and interact with internal and external stakeholders.
Ability to reconcile financial data and resolve discrepancies using source documents and internal systems.
Additional Considerations
Experience with State accounting processes procedures and applicable policies and laws
Experience with Accounts Payable processing and policy
