The County of San Diego California is seeking an experienced community-focused professional to serve as its next Deputy Director of Animal Services over the Animal Control Division. This is an exciting opportunity to help lead one of Californias most progressive animal services agencies advancing compassionate care community well-being and operational excellence across the region. The Deputy Director plays a vital role in shaping programs that promote both public safety and animal welfare strengthening field services local code compliance and community partnerships. This position works closely with internal and external partners including the District Attorneys Office County Counsel and the San Diego Humane Society to ensure effective collaboration on complex cases and shared initiatives. The Deputy Director oversees a team of 20 staff engaged in field enforcement and investigation of animal neglect and cruelty leading modernization efforts supporting staff development and fostering a culture of collaboration innovation and accountability.
