Position Summary
Lead and provide technical and managerial oversight to the Mechanical Engineering Department.
Tasks and Responsibilities
Assist GM/ SGM in day-to-day operation.
Provide technical guidance rules & regulatory updates and training to team members.
Provide technical assessment and review for tender projects.
Resource planning/ manning to ensure optimise manpower utilisation.
Undertake Technical lead role in newbuilding and/or Conversion/ Retrofit project.
Conduct equipment technical assessment and manage vendor relationships.
Oversee equipment layout ensuring proper integration with other vessel systems.
Manage vendor coordination and integration with other disciplines.
Review and verify equipment capacity sizing and system interface.
Ensure smooth interfacing for 3D modeling for HVAC piping and machineries with other disciplines.
Ensure compliance with relevant standards codes and safety regulations.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams clients design house and contractors to ensure project objectives are met.
Job requirements
Minimum 10 years of design & engineering experience of machineries piping and HVAC systems for ship building conversion and retrofit projects in the marine/ offshore industry. Have embarked on leadership roles for at least 5 years leading a team of no less than 8 persons.
Degree or Diploma in relevant discipline.
Possess good communication & interpersonal skills project management and excellent leadership.
Familiar with AutoCAD/ Microsoft Office/ Tribon/ AVEVA. CADMATIC is a plus.
Familiar with Shipbuilding & Offshore industry standards and practices & Classification Rules and National Authority Regulations.
Extensive knowledge (including calculation) and experience on the design of marine system piping and HVAC.
