Ko tōu ake mahi - What youll do

Our Evidence and Analytics team plays a crucial role by delivering data-driven insights to inform policy decisions that aim to improve health outcomes for all New Zealanders.

Our work includes both deep dive dataanalyticsand regular reportingutilisinga wide range of datasets including health administrative data health surveys anddrawing on theStats NZs Integrated Data Infrastructure (IDI).We arepart of a widerGroup that leads data analytics at the Ministry.

  • Deliver targeted insights and analysis using health data to support decision-making
  • Design and produce clear accurate reports and visualisations for diverse audiences
  • Work with IDI and other data sources to extract and analyse complex datasets
  • Collaborate with colleagues and stakeholders ensuring equity and Treaty obligations are reflected in our work
  • Continuously develop your analytical skills and contribute to improving team processes through peer review and best practices

  • Data analysis skills with experience using R SQL Python or similar tools to analyse and report on data
  • Ability to interpret complex issues and communicate insights to technical and non-technical audiences
  • A curious strategic problem-solver with a proactive approach to improving processes
  • Commitment to growing understanding of te reo tikanga and mātauranga Māori in the work context
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills supported by a relevant tertiary qualification
