Wereon the hunt for aTechnical Leadto mature and lead our new Data Services squad right here in Auckland. Your mission: Drive the vision fordatastreaminganddelivernew services andproductsfor sharing and modelling data within our cloud-basedveterinary application.Our Data services teamisbuilding infrastructure schemas and frameworks that ensuredataflows efficiently and securelyto consumers that need this data. No data science wizardrythis is about engineering rock-solid data pipelines from disparate sources aligning with enterprise architecture and collaborating with stakeholders to evolve our data ecosystem.

This is an exciting new role leading a new team with 3-4 direct reports. The team willbe responsible forbuilding a data layer so our internal teams and customers can betterleveragethe data within our software products.Our products process a huge amount ofdataso you need to be confident dealing with large data volumes. This team will be pivotal in bringing this data alltogether.This rolewill behands on technically as well as involving people and technical leadership.

Predominantly powered by AWSyoulldesign architectures for capturing integratingorganising andmaintainingdata doubling down on Kafka for real-time event-driven streaming that keeps our veterinary worldin sync. Dive into Go and TypeScript for robust backends cloud-native setups and seamless integrations with AWS services. With a DevOps mindsetyoullautomate CI/CDIaC and reliability in distributed systemsmastering event-driven practices to handle scale like a pro. Ifyourefired up about herding data cats in a fast-paced domain-driven world with Kafka at the heartletschat!

Key Responsibilities:

• Inspire mentor and grow a cross-functional squad to deliver end-to-end data value streams embedding engineering excellence that aligns with our roadmapespecially in Kafka streaming and event-driven architectures.

• Define own and run the ecosystems common master data model for streaming data you have the opportunity to help shape a common data model across theorganisation.

• Build engaged teams (starting with one squad) balancing tech quality morale and user outcomes alongside Product Managers and Architects.

• Lead by example in data engineering or architecture instilling best practices in Kafka pipelines AWS integrations and event sourcing to empower your team and scale IDEXXs data ecosystem.

What You Need to Succeed:

• Bachelors in Computer Science/Info Systems or equivalent experience/qualifications.

• 7 years as a Software Engineer with proven technical leadership.

• Expertisein evolving cultures toward agility automated testing andDevSecOps.

• Strong in systems/software design modern web/cloud tech (e.g. React Go TypeScript Java) and deep hands-on with Kafka for event-driven streaming plus AWS services for scalable infra.

• Agile mastery (Scrum Kanban etc.) plus a passion for building resilient data schemas and real-time pipelines.
