Crowe is currently seeking a Manager to join their Insolvency and Restructuring team in the Vancouver office. The position is a full-time (37.5 hours/week) permanent position. The successful candidate will report to the Partner Derek Lai and will be a career-focused individual that is excited to join a growth-oriented entrepreneurial firm.
The successful candidate will assist both lenders and debtors in challenging financial situations manage a wide range of insolvency proceedings and train and mentor staff.
The Role
- Review and assess accounting records for clients in financial distress to determine the extent of their assets and liabilities.
- Prepare estimated realization schedules to assist in advising clients on the appropriate insolvency or restructuring proceedings.
- Provide insights on the potential impact of various insolvency options on creditors employees and other stakeholders.
- Assist in preparing and distributing detailed reports to all stakeholders regarding a corporations financial affairs.
- Take possession of assets undertakings and properties as it relates to corporate insolvency proceedings.
- Prepare and closely monitor cash flow forecasts for clients undergoing a Notice of Intention to File a Proposal (NOI) under the Bankruptcy and Insolvency Act.
- Stay up-to-date with Canadian insolvency laws including the Bankruptcy and Insolvency Act (BIA) and ensure that all insolvency processes reports and proposals are in full compliance with industry standards.
- Conduct in-depth investigations into the corporations financial dealings identifying potential fraudulent transactions or preferential transfers.
- Serve as a neutral party working to maximize recovery for creditors while ensuring fair treatment of all stakeholders in the insolvency process.
- Organize and attend meetings with creditors to discuss the insolvency process address disputes and provide updates on the debtors financial situation.
- Assist in taking possession of and liquidating assets distribute proceeds to creditors per legal priorities and work alongside the Trustee to manage the corporations restructuring or liquidation process.
- Assist with the closing taxation and discharge process with regard to completed insolvency estate administrations.
- Correspond with the Office of the Superintendent of Bankruptcy as required.
- Assist in the preparation and filing of corporate tax returns.
- Develop train and coach junior team members in insolvency proceedings.
- Participate in various marketing and networking initiatives.
What You Will Bring
- Bachelors degree in Accounting;
- Chartered Professional Accountant designation or equivalent;
- At least 2 years of insolvency experience specifically corporate insolvency proceedings;
- Completion of or currently pursuing the Licensed Insolvency Trustee designation;
- Extensive knowledge of the Bankruptcy and Insolvency Act;
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills English written and verbal communications technical competencies and work ethic.
