Currently the entry level pay is $22.50 an hour.
The Unified Fire Authority (UFA) Wildland Division is seeking motivated hardworking individuals to join our team for the 2026 wildfire season. Seasonal positions will run approximately from May 1 through October 31 2026.
As part of the largest fire department in the State of Utah UFA Wildland offers incredible opportunities for growth challenge and service. With multiple career paths available this is an excellent entry point for those interested in both wildland and structural firefighting. Preference points are offered for candidates pursuing a structural firefighting career with UFA.
Positions Available
We are hiring for multiple crews and assignments including the Hand Crew Engines Fuels Crew and Camp Williams. Open positions include:
- Crewmembers
- Chainsaw Team Members
- Lead Crewmembers
- Squad Bosses
What It Takes
Wildland firefighting is both physically and mentally demanding. Our crews work long hours under challenging conditions responding to fires locally regionally and across the nation. Youll be trained and expected to perform in all aspects of wildfire response including:
- Initial and extended attack operations
- Fireline construction and hose lay operations
- Firing and mop-up operations
- Daily physical fitness and training exercises
- Fuels management and project work when not assigned to active fires
Crewmembers can expect to work over 1000 hours over the course of the season. While the schedule can be demanding the work is deeply rewarding - offering unmatched experience teamwork and pride in service.
Were looking for team players who are self-motivated disciplined and ready to work hard in a dynamic and meaningful environment.
Minimum Requirements
- Must be 18 years of age by April 1 2026
- Possess a valid drivers license
- Successfully complete the NWCG Pack Test (3 miles on level ground with a 45-lb pack in under 45 minutes)

- Date: January 3 2026
- Location: Olympic Oval 5662 Cougar Ln Kearns UT 84118
- Test: 1.5-mile run
- Link will be sent out at the end of December to signup for a time slot
Interviews:
- Dates: Week of January 12 2026
- Job offers will be extended shortly thereafter.
