Job Summary


Primary Responsibility

The primary responsibility of the Reading Interventionist is to provide targeted data-informed literacy intervention that accelerates reading growth for students with identified skill gaps including those with characteristics of dyslexia through systematic explicit and responsive instruction.

Responsibilities

  • Provide intensive reading intervention in phonemic awareness phonics spelling fluency and comprehension using structured evidence-based practices.

  • Plan and deliver small-group and individualized interventions that build strategic reading and writing behaviors.

  • Design intervention plans grounded in multiple data sources including assessment results and direct observation of student reading behaviors.

  • Set individualized student goals that are specific measurable attainable and time-bound and monitor progress toward those goals.

  • Implement the districts approved dyslexia intervention program with fidelity for students who require intensive services.

  • Analyze and interpret DIBELS Developmental Spelling Assessment (DSA) and fluency data; maintain progress-monitoring trackers; and coordinate the dyslexia identification and support process.

  • Conduct formal and informal assessments on a scheduled basis to adjust instruction and document growth.

  • Collaborate with classroom teachers administrators and support staff to align intervention with core instruction.

  • Communicate regularly with families regarding student progress and recommended support strategies.

  • Participate in and provide progress updates during 504 meetings for students receiving dyslexia-related services.

  • Maintain accurate documentation in compliance with district and state requirements.

  • Perform other related duties as assigned in support of student achievement.



Candidate Qualifications and Traits:

  • Hold a standard teaching license in K-6 or 4-8 ELAR or be eligible to obtain license. Experience can be substituted for education.
  • Commitment to excellent daily instruction for all students
  • Deep knowledge of literacy content and pedagogy in grades K-8
  • Deep understanding of the ELAR standards assessments and instructional implications
  • Detail orientation organization and follow through.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Experience building positive collaborative relationships with diverse team members and stakeholders.
