An opportunity exists for a diligent and structured Emergency Response Advisor to join the Safety & Health team at our Capcoal Lake Lindsay Mine. With your diverse capability in communicating with a range of stakeholders and high level of planning and problem solving you will add value through your commitment to Health & Safety. The key output of this role is to ensure that safety/compliance standards are present and maintained in all activities associated with this role with the aim to continually improve these standards.
Key accountabilities;
- Ensure emergency capabilities are developed and maintained to effectively manage identified hazards.
- Ensure that appropriate emergency systems and services are in place and that these systems comply with the requirements of both SMC and Group as well as addressing specific site needs.
- Coordinate the site Emergency Response Team (ERT) to ensure that minimum manning requirements and competencies are developed and maintained.
- Ensure the site Emergency Response Plan / Procedures / Evacuation Plans are maintained up-to-date and in alignment with SMC / AA and legislative requirements (including Group Technical Standard).
- Discharge the legal obligations of the Fire Officer.
- Coordinate distribute and maintain first-aid mines rescue and fire equipment on-site.
- Procure goods and service for mines rescue team.
- Record and report on the status of site emergency equipment and capabilities.
- Advise Safety and Health Manager on emergency matters in a timely and efficient manner.
- Review and approve rescue resourcing risk assessments and response plans (e.g. for confined space entry)
- Ensure Incident Management Team materials / equipment and familiarizations are maintained up to date (duty cards incident management rooms)
- Complete critical control monitoring activities related to Emergency Response.
- Support the execution of the onsite drug and alcohol management program including ordering testing supplies reviewing medication declaration forms and escalating at-risk cases to the Occupational Health Superintendent.
- Assist the Occupational Health Superintendent with day-to-day management of onsite health professionals (e.g. nurses and paramedics).
Qualifications :
To be successful in this role ideally you will have:
- An undergraduate qualification (Bachelors / Honours degree or equivalent) in a relevant discipline such as Safety is desirable.
- Formal qualification in Safety combined with practical emergency response experience of at least 3 to 5 years is essential.
