Job Duties

The Virginia Department of Taxation seeks a Revenue Accountant to support the Revenue Accounting Section and their multi-billion-dollar revenue accounting activities. The main responsibilities of the position include accounting for the Communication tax keying deposit certificates and assisting with the reconciliations to Cardinal.

This position will assist with the Communication tax distribution to localities the transfer of communication tax to the Department of Deaf and Hard of Hearing and the recovery of our administrative costs associated with Communications addition this position will be responsible for keying the $38 billion we receive into Cardinal with the processing of daily deposit certificates. The position will also help with reconciling accounts keying refunds and ensuring the accounting for all taxes is correct.

This position is in our Main Street Centre Office in downtown Richmond Virginia.

This position is eligible for a hybrid telework schedule once fully trained.

The anticipated hiring salary is commensurate with experience up to $66000

Minimum Qualifications

Knowledge and experience with governmental accounting

Experience with revenue accounting

Knowledge and experience with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)

Experience with distributing funds

Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and analyzing financial data

Additional Considerations

Advanced and/or extensive knowledge and work experience in accounting

CPA (Certified Public Accountant)

CGFM (Certified Government Financial Manager)
