We are seeking an experienced Permitting & Drafting Manager to join our Pre-Construction this role you will lead both the drafting and permitting functions to ensure projects move efficiently from design through regulatory approval. The Manager is responsible for overseeing accurate construction drawings timely permit submissions and clear coordination with municipalities and internal teams. The ideal candidate will streamline workflows eliminate bottlenecks and support teams in delivering high-quality compliant pre-construction packages.

The Role
- Lead and supervise both the Permitting and Drafting teams to ensure all pre-construction activities move efficiently from design through approval
- Oversee the preparation of high-quality construction drawings maps and design packages that meet internal standards and client specifications
- Manage the full permitting lifecycle including application submission tracking follow-up and resolution of issues with municipalities utilities and other governing agencies
- Establish and maintain strong working relationships with local jurisdictions to streamline approvals and minimize delays
- Ensure drafting outputs align with permitting requirements project scope engineering data and construction needs
- Prioritize workloads assign tasks and allocate resources effectively across permitting and drafting functions
- Develop and maintain standardized processes templates and workflows to drive accuracy productivity and compliance
- Review completed drawings permit packets and documentation for accuracy completeness and adherence to regulatory requirements
- Proactively identify risks or constraints in the design or permitting process and drive timely solutions
- Collaborate closely with Pre-Construction Engineering Project Management and Field Leadership to ensure seamless transition from design to build
- Provide guidance coaching and professional development to both teams fostering a high-performance culture
- Prepare and report status updates timelines risk assessments and performance metrics to leadership
- Other duties as assigned
Requirements
- 10 years of aerial and underground permitting/drafting experience across multiple municipalities and jurisdictions required
- 3-5 years of experience leading permitting drafting engineering or pre-construction teams preferably in Telecom Utilities Fiber or Construction industries
- Strong knowledge of permitting processes municipal regulations zoning environmental requirements and right-of-way procedures
- Familiarity with drafting standards GIS tools construction drawings and mapping platforms (AutoCAD experience preferred)
- Excellent organizational skills with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple deadlines
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments and with external agencies
- Demonstrated problem-solving skills and the ability to navigate complex permitting challenges
- Ability to create improve and manage workflows documentation standards and quality control procedures
- Functional knowledge of Google Suite and MS Office (Outlook Word Excel PowerPoint)
- An equivalent combination of education and relevant experience will be considered
- Must provide a valid government-issued photo ID for verification; a drivers license is required if the role involves driving
- Passing of all pre-employment requirements (MVR Background Check Drug Screen)
