Title: Assistant Roadway Construction Inspector

• Caltrans Assistant Roadway Construction Inspector for District 11 (D11) in North San Diego County.

Required Qualification:- Years of Experience/Education/Certificates/Training:

Two (2) years of postsecondary education in either:

• Engineering which includes courses in trigonometry and algebra or higher drafting computer science and physics chemistry or comparable physical science.

or

• Surveying which includes courses in trigonometry and algebra or higher drafting surveying and computer science.

• Minimum four (4) years of experience in roadway construction inspection of highways or major public works projects performing construction inspections.
• Knowledge and experience with equipment used in roadway construction inspection surveying field testing of construction materials and construction office engineering.
• Hands on experience with:

• Microsoft Office (Word Excel PowerPoint and others)
• Critical Path Method (CPM) software such as Primavera Project Planner (P3 P6) or SureTrak or any updated version as a minimum
• Scheduler Analyzer Pro
• Microsoft Project.

• Knowledge and experience with principles of effective communication and supervision.
• Knowledge and experience with monitoring labor compliance.
• Knowledge of subcontracting laws and policies.
• Knowledge and experience Storm Water Pollution Prevention Program and the General Permit.
• Knowledge of Caltrans Standard Plans Standard Specifications and Construction Manual.
• Proper background clearance as necessary when performing work on or near the rail system.
• Experience in assisting in preparation of Resident Engineers for the Dispute Review Board (DRB) position papers and meetings.
• Experience in assisting Resident Engineers to respond to preliminary claim findings and preparation for Dispute Review Board (DRB).
• Experience in preparation of Claims files documents and reports.
• Knowledge and experience in keeping complete accurate and concise records of the work and quantities.

• Starting Salary range for this job is $90000.00 - $130000.00. The starting salary will be commensurate with skill education experience and working environment
