Job Summary

  • Internal opportunities within the Parents as Partners Program
  • 3x Part-time positions (38 hours per fortnight) Max term until 30 June 2026
  • Based in Broadmeadows
Your new role

As a Parent Mentor you will assist in the development and operation of the Parents as Partners program activities and serve as a parenting mentor to consumers in the Family Services Program. Some of your responsibilities will include:

  • Attending home visits to support Family Services Practitioners to engage with families.
  • Assisting parents to access other community supports and services as appropriate.
  • Maintaining associated administrative tasks related to the Parenting as Partners Pilot.
  • Attending Care Teams as a support person as appropriate.
  • Role-Modelling and mentoring positive parenting to families

All parent mentors will have lived experience of being supported by family services or other support services.

Your skills and experience
  • Have lived experience of being a parent and have received a service through family services Child Protection or other community programs.
  • Current drivers license valid in Victoria
  • Personal Attributes:
    • Verbal ability: Open honest articulate and flexible approach to communication written and verbal. The ability to actively listen.
    • Interpersonal focus: Strong interest in people and respect for others. The ability to suspend judgement.
    • Cooperative: Demonstrates team behaviours striving for co-operative and professional relationships.
    • Conscientious: Responsible dependable organised and persistent.
    • Open to experience: High level self-awareness with the ability to admit mistakes as an opportunity for reflection learning and development.
    • Professionalism: Professional confident focused and clear about purpose and able to set appropriate personal boundaries.
