This role sits within the UNSW Division of Societal Impact Equity and Engagement (DSIEE) leading UNSWs efforts to make a positive and lasting impact on society promoting equity and social justice and driving engagement activities which enhance UNSWs reputation as a key contributor to society through its research teaching and community engagement.

Why Your Role Matters:
As Strategic Projects Lead you will oversee key projects within Division of Societal Impact Equity and Engagement (DSIEE) to advance student equity at UNSW.

Reporting to the Head of Strategic Programs within (DSIEE) you will be developing strong partnerships across the university and with external stakeholders to navigate complex institutional environments and conducting extensive consultation to ensure meaningful impact.

Bringing extensive project management experience you will manage the full project lifecycle from end to end. This critical role ensures a highly organised and strategic professional approach to student equity committed to driving student-focused outcomes across the institution and navigating institutional complexity and ambiguity to deliver successful outcomes across projects and for our students.

Your day-to-day focus will include:

  • Overseeing the delivery of Student Equity projects (Numerary and inclusive teaching evaluation initiatives) managing day-to-day operations and governance.
  • Leading the development of a university-wide Widening Participation Theory of Change consulting extensively to ensure the product is fit-for-purpose implemented across Divisions.
  • Addressing project risks and dependencies ensuring compliance with UNSW governance frameworks.
  • Partnering with project teams and maintaining effective communication with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Proactively identify opportunities and broker new initiatives aligned with Student Equitys strategic goals.

Who you are:Experienced across the project lifecycle and/or a subject matter expert across student equity you will be confident in project management (ideally in a higher education setting) from scoping planning stakeholder management and delivery to budget management acquittal and reporting.

You will bring the following experience:

  • Proven project management experience with an in-depth understanding of the project life cycle and strategic development of project plans objectives and documentation.
  • Advanced written and verbal communication skills with a high level of attention to detail for deliverables produced.
  • Demonstrated success working effectively and collaboratively on initiatives with a range of people at different levels including conducting extensive consultation within a large and complex organisational settings to deliver successful frameworks and outcomes
  • Knowledge of budgeting and resource allocation procedures.
  • Excellent time management skills with a demonstrated ability to respond to changing priorities manage multiple tasks and meet competing deadlines by using judgement and initiative.
  • Demonstrated experience in writing successful funding applications for strategic initiatives.
  • Demonstrated understanding issues in student equity
  • Proven management experience together with flexibility capacity to adapt to changing environments and when necessary navigating ambiguity.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and productively within a team but also to take initiative and work independently while managing competing demands.
  • Highly desirable: Experience in managing or delivery of large research projects and developing theories of change or strategy for new initiatives.
