We are hiring a full-time temporary Coordinator Projects (Wastewater Collection)

position working out of Edmonton AB.

The Project Coordinator is accountable for assisting the Water and Sewer Servicing (WASS) team in coordinating infill and development projects with various levels of complexity from inception to execution using sound engineering and project practices personal initiative and interpersonal skills working closely with external and internal stakeholders.

What youd be responsible for

  • Initiating procedures for new service applications for residential industrial and commercial development projects and assisting customers with servicing reports and sitespecific requirements.
  • Executing project activities to meet milestones including coordinating with the City of Edmonton on land development applications and permits reviewing and approving design drawings and participating in project meetings.
  • Applying sound project management principles to adjust execution approaches identify budgetary requirements and coordinate construction plans to safely deliver projects on time while accurately reporting status.
  • Monitoring construction progress by tracking changes action items and issues and ensuring compliance with policies standards and regulatory requirements to mitigate risks.
  • Preparing and completing project documentation agreements approvals and closeout materials.
  • Coordinating infill development projects from inception to completion through collaboration with internal teams (engineering estimating construction finance) and external stakeholders (consultants developers contractors).
  • Supporting departmental performance metrics by monitoring measuring and reporting progress.
  • Engaging and informing the Manager promptly when issues require escalation.
  • Coordinating with diverse project teams and stakeholders to achieve objectives integrating safety into all aspects of work through site visits inspections and observations.
  • Providing guidance and mentorship to less experienced team members.

Whats required to be successful

  • Completion of a Diploma in an accredited engineering technology program (Civil Engineering program or a related field) from a recognized post-secondary educational institute.
    • Other programs may be considered such as Design and Drafting.
    • Course work or certifications related to project management or project leadership will be considered an asset.
  • Membership with ASET as a CET (Certified Engineering Technologist) or eligibility for membership.
  • Minimum 4-6 years of directly related experience coordinating projects of various levels of complexity from inception to execution.
  • Detailed knowledge of municipal and civil design and drafting.
  • Knowledge of water and sewer systems including Engineering Design and construction of municipal utility services.
  • Knowledge of Water and Drainage Bylaws EPCORs Design & Construction Standards Lot Grading Guidelines Provincial Legislation Condo Act Zoning Bylaw Building and Plumbing Codes.
  • Knowledge of construction standards and methods in the field (MH Bridging etc).
  • General knowledge of internal mechanical plumbing and building systems.
  • Understanding of and ability to interpret various types of engineering plans including historical documents.
  • Ability to calculate inverts obverts and crossing elevations for sanitary and storm services and interpret surface contours and elevations.
  • Ability to identify servicing conflicts by reviewing other utility plans.
  • Ability to provide technical customer service to the public when required.

Wage: $49.93 per hour

  • Final Wage and Step will be determined at the time of selection and based on a combination of factors as outlined in the Collective Agreement.
