The Governors Office of Economic Development (GOED) is seeking a driven outgoing and motivated Senior Development Representative to help grow South Dakotas economy. As an experienced leader within GOEDs Development Team the Senior Rep plays a key role in advancing strategic initiatives cultivating partnerships and securing high-impact projects that strengthen South Dakotas this role youll work directly with businesses community leaders and partners across the state to recruit new companies support existing ones and lead projects that make a real impact. Youll also provide leadership to and mentor colleagues provide strategic insights and help shape initiatives that strengthen South Dakotas business landscape.

The ideal candidate is a strategic relationship-driven professional with strong business acumen problem-solving ability and a passion for South Dakotas growth.

Frequent in- and out-of-state travel is required. This is a forward facing hands-on role that requires extensive travel both in and out-of-state.

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

2-4 years of progressive experience in sales or business development economic development and project management; with 2 years in a lead senior or noticeably higher-responsibility capacity preferred. A network of business contacts is also beneficial.

Knowledge of:

principles and practices of finance and economics;
Federal state community and private resources useful in providing service to businesses and prospects; and
solid sales and marketing techniques.

Skill to:

effectively use the Microsoft suite of tools such as Outlook Excel Word etc.

Ability to:

work both independently and in a team environment;
create develop maintain and leverage relationships;
communicate effectively and deliver persuasive presentations;
successfully execute cold calling techniques and other forms of proactive outreach;
organize time and resources to achieve goals and objectives;
effectively identify and pursue opportunities in economic development; and
think outside of the box to encourage economic growth.
